If you’ve been itching to unlock another 100 tiers of loot in Fortnite: Battle Royale, itch no longer. We’ve finally got a new battle pass after an extended Chapter 2, Season 1, and it’s a big one. Secret agents have taken over the island for unknown reasons, and they’ve brought with them a pretty dramatic revamp to the whole battle pass presentation. Let’s dive in.

Note: This story has been updated since the battle pass went live.

The Theme: In a nutshell, secret agents. But it’s a little more complicated than that, borrowing a little bit of the “faction” concept from last season. When you level up the battle pass, you unlock a set of agents: Maya, Brutus, Agent Peely, Meowscles, Skye, Tntina and Midas. when you unlock them, they’re “neutral”. Throughout the course of the season we’ll be able to assign them a faction through completing missions, giving us access to either a Ghost or Shadow variant on their outfit. The catch? Once you select one, you can’t pick the other. It’s a neat little way to get some more story into the situation.

The Skins: Erik Kain has a full rundown of the skins here, but there’s some cool stuff in there. I’m a big fan of Agent Meowsclesâ€"that’s that old school sort of Fortnite weird. But I also like Brutus and Midas, though the female skins don’t seem quite as interesting this time around. With the exception of one, that is.

Maya: Maya gets her own tab, because there’s a whole thing going on here. She’s our first fully customizable skin, though it seems like more could be added. You can change her gear, tattoos, hairstyles and more. You’ll have to unlock those upgrades through challenges, however, and most are not available right now.

Deadpool: By all reckoning, Deadpool appears to be the challenge skin this season and not part of the battle pass proper. But you can see what’s up with him if you head into the air vent inside the battle pass screen: he’s holed up in a bathroom with a computer, and accessing the computer seems to give you some special challenges.

Pickaxes: Now we’re getting into the meat of things. Aside from the skin, we’ve got our usual suite of cosmetics. There are some decent pickaxes in here: a saw and hammer combo for Brutus, dual swords for Skye and some excellent brass knuckle sorts of things for Mewoscles. Tntina, Peely and Midas also have some less interesting, single tool options to go with. Gotta round it out, one supposes.

Gliders: Here’s one of the real gems of the pass here. We’ve got an entirely new style of Glider: a bomb that you can ride on down to the island, which you can unlock pretty quickly if you buy the 25-tier package. That’s the prize, but there’s some other good stuff in here too: a fish skeleton for Meowscles and some pretty straightforward uncommon options. Skye has this weird hat thing that seems to be also usable as an emote, and Brutus has some suitcases that are awfully reminiscent of the getaway event.

Back Blings: I’m all about this black twine and gold mousey combo, obviously: stylish, slick, obviously belonging to a magic cat. I’ll be rocking that one, but there are some other good back blings here too: some simple, stylish stuff in the beginning, and then the slightly more outlandish adventure pack. Midas gets a gold dagger/satchel combo that is absolutely slick.

Contrails: I’m loving this briefcase chained to the wrist thing that Brutus gets early on: it’s got a different vibe than most contrails. The rest are sort of strange? Some snowflakes, what looks like an unused Valentine’s contrail, one that just spits letters out of your hands: a bit random. I’m really liking this Tntina-themed comic book effect one, however.

Emotes: A fair number of cool things in here. Coin flip should be great for anyone making movies in this thing, or just trying to communicate to their enemies how little they mean. Pandemonium has a pot and a pan, but I suppose it’s been long enough since this game was called a PUBG clone that we can let it slide. Aside from that we’ve got some slick dances and a very Furry-friendly style for Mewoscles.

Wraps: So we’ve got this weird, “jean jacket covered in patches” sort of thing with “denim destiny”, and I’ve got to say I’m here for it. Other highlights include the animated “Calico”, which has little cat paws that go along it. We’ve also got some straight-ahead red int he early tiers, and the ultra-stylish Midas Memory, which goes along with the guy’s generally slick affect.

The other stuff: A bunch of sprays, emoticons and banners, as usual. It’s a big pass, with a lot to work with, and I already like it more than last season.
